UPI Rules from 1st August 2025: New guidelines have been implemented from 1 August 2025 on Indian Digital Payment Network UPI. Their purpose is to reduce the system load, make the payment process faster and safe. All these rules will be applicable to UPI apps like PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm etc.
Balance checking limit
Now you can check bank balance only 50 times daily in every UPI app. This will not put unnecessary pressure on the system. Also, after every successful transaction, your outstanding balance will be seen on the screen. Due to which there is no need to check the balance again and again.
Linked account information
List Account API, a list of bank accounts connected to your mobile number, can also be checked only 25 times a day. If the account list is not loaded. So only your permission will be tried again.

New timing of autopement execution
Recurring autopays like ott subscription, eMIS etc. will now be processed only in non-piece hours: before 10 am, before 1 to 5 pm and after 9:30 pm. If the transaction fails, there is a original + 3 retiry feature; The maindate will then be automatically canceled.
Transaction Status Investigation – Difference of only 3 times, 90 seconds
If your transaction is stuck in “pending” or “processing”. So you can now see his situation only 3 times. It is necessary to have a gap of at least 90 seconds between each attempt. This will not overload the system.
Recever information
Before each transaction, you will now see the registered name and transaction ID of the receiver. With this, you can accidentally avoid sending money to the wrong person.

Possible action on violation
If an UPI app or PSP violates these new rules. So NPCI API can limit access. Can prohibit adding new users. Or can apply other penalty.
